There will be several factors that must be weighed by the new poker player. He has to balance on one hand the goal of gaining experience, and on the other hand, the size of his bankroll. The latter must be weighed carefully since the new poker can reasonably expect to lose a lot. After all, he will be up against professional poker players.
If this new poker player finally decides to stay and the dealer has chosen a poker variant that the new poker player has never played, will it be wise to get out? Or will it advantageous in the long run if one learns to play another poker variant? Again, the poker player must weigh his options carefully. But if he decides to still stay, then this new poker player must at least know the general game play of poker.
At the beginning of each poker game, one or more players are obligated to pay a certain amount even before the cards are dealt. The money, of course, goes into the pot. These amounts of money from certain players are required bets, which can come in three forms. These forms are "antes", "blinds", and "bring-ins".
After the required bets are made, the dealer efficiently shuffles the crisp deck of 52 cards. Then, the deck is cut, and the dealer distributes the cards. Cards that are dealt to each poker player are usually given face down. There is also a button which is rotated among the players. This button indicates the sequence or order of betting.
When the initial cards are dealt, a betting round happens. In these betting rounds, players have the option to bet, call, raise, and fold. All poker variants have several betting rounds. And in between those betting round, more cards are dealt, and the hand of each player develops. And in each betting round, the amount of money in the pot increases.
If, on one betting round, all poker players but one has folded, the remaining poker player wins the pot and he need not show his cards. But if two or more players still remain in the last betting round, there will be a showdown. In a showdown, the poker players reveal their cards. Whoever has the best hand wins the poker game.
